Age is no reason to slow down I Dream of Jeannie star Barbara Edenwho, at 93, says she maintains her slim figure through an active lifestyle.

In an interview with Fox News published on Saturday, September 14, Eden explained that she relies on exercise to look and feel youthful, and that she has adjusted her routine as needed over the years.

“I used to take spinning classes and then do weight training with a trainer,” she told the outlet. “When COVID hit, my hard training stopped. Now I have a stationary bike and I lift five pounds. I use very light weights, but they’re good for the bones.”

While she says she misses spinning classes for the camaraderie and motivation (“I’m not one to take much initiative,” she admits), Eden encourages trying different activities to see what works and feels best.

“I remember when aerobics was all the rage,” she said. “It was good for you. I tried it, but no, it wasn’t for me. But walking? That’s another matter. If you can walk briskly, which I’m very good at, it’s good for you. It’s good for your knees and ankles. I find it better than running.”

The star of the classic sitcom also applies his health philosophy to his dietary choices and allows himself to enjoy his favorite foods as part of a moderate diet.

“I love Italian food. German food too. I love schnitzel, especially when you squeeze lemon on it. It’s delicious. And of course, when I was growing up in San Francisco, we had the absolute best Italian and Chinese food ever,” she says.

“I like sugar too,” she admitted. “I like candy. I like key lime pie. My sister brought me one for my birthday. I also like angel food cake. I make my own angel food cake and then spread a very tangy, sweet lemon frosting on it. And of course, chocolate. I love it. You really can’t go wrong with me. You want to get me a gift? Just give me anything sweet.”

Eden attributes her balanced approach to nutrition and fitness to her upbringing and says her parents taught her well.

“I was lucky that my mother and father emphasized healthy eating and healthy living,” she said. “My mother’s mantra was ‘moderation in all things.’ That’s how they lived, and that’s how I lived.”

Eden has maintained a forward-thinking attitude to her life over the decades. She says she doesn’t think much about slowing down, preferring instead a “go ahead and do it” approach.

“If you don’t try, you won’t get anywhere,” she explained. “That’s not good. I say just be busy. Be productive. That’s so important… It’s important to me.”
