HOLLAND — Windmill Island Gardens is opening its doggie door to local dogs this weekend at Bark in the Park. The event will take place on Saturday, August 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Bark in the Park promises visitors a ton of activities, including about 25 booths from local vendors such as veterinary clinics, groomers, trainers and accessory manufacturers. Abby Klingberg, a trainer and participant, will give dog agility demonstrations every half hour, according to a press release from Windmill Island Gardens.
Visitors and their pets can look forward to a welcome bag full of surprises from event sponsors, opportunities to test their pup’s agility, free caricatures and more. Park admission during the event is $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 3 to 15. Holland residents and children under 3 are admitted free.
The park’s attractions, with the exception of the windmill and the souvenir shop, are open to dogs on a leash.
The event is supported by Paws in the City, which offers dog daycare, training and grooming, and Mapleview Animal Hospital, a family-run veterinary clinic. Windmill Island Gardens is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through October 1.
