Rexha addressed the German airline directly and wrote in her story: “@Lufthansa, I was threatened because I thought the security guard was Albanian. I spoke to him in Albanian and asked him where to get my ticket and now he is banning me from boarding the flight.”

“I believe this is a hate crime because I am Albanian,” Rexha claimed in a written statement. Rexha’s family is of Albanian descent and she was born in Brooklyn, New York.

“He wouldn’t let me take his name. He continued to psychologically abuse me to make me feel like he was more powerful than he was.”
