Ben Gurion Airport resumes full flight operations – Israel News

Ben Gurion Airport has resumed full flight operations after closing at 5:19 a.m. and is open for departures and arrivals, the Israel Airport Authority (IAA) announced on Sunday morning.

The IAA estimated that about 50,000 passengers were expected to pass through the airport on Sunday, with over 300 international flights arriving and departing. The IAA advised passengers to check the updated flight schedules and verify their flight details due to possible changes by foreign airlines.

In addition, a special session took place at the airport, led by Transport Minister Miri Regev and the Director General of the Ministry of Transport Moshe Ben Zaken, to discuss the impact on air traffic in Israel and the airport.

The minister praised the efficient diversion of flights to Ramon Airport and other airports and the provision of transportation solutions to passengers after the airport closure at 5:19 a.m.

Despite the IAA announcement, Israir Airlines, an Israeli low-cost airline, announced that flights would be suspended due to the security situation, according to a report on Ynet.

“Some of the disruptions are due to foreign crew members’ fears about flying to Israel,” the company stressed. “We are in contact with foreign airlines to quickly return to normal operations and are making every effort to find solutions for passengers whose flights are delayed.”
