Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport wins seven awards at FAB conference in California: Report | Bengaluru

Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has received seven awards at the FAB conference, including the “Airport Lounge of the Year” award for its 080 Lounge.

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has once again shone at an awards ceremony, bagging several accolades in various categories. The airport, operated by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), won seven awards at the prestigious Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference and Awards in Ontario, California, reported The Times of India.

According to BIAL, the airport is the first in India to receive such an extensive list of awards at the event. The FAB Awards is the only global event that recognises excellence in airport food and hospitality and sets high industry standards, the report said.

A highlight of KIA’s achievements was the recently opened 080 Domestic Lounge in Terminal 2, which received the Airport Lounge of the Year award. Reflecting Karnataka’s cultural heritage with a modern twist, this lounge offers travellers an exceptional experience, the publication said. In addition, KIA received the Humanitarian Award for its partnership with Mitti Cafe, which made a positive impact on people with disabilities by opening the first Airport Mitti Cafe.

Kenneth Guldbjerg, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), BIAL, told reporters, “We are immensely proud to be the first Indian airport lounge to receive such prestigious recognition at the FAB Awards. The 080 Lounge is more than just a space. It is a journey through the rich cultural landscape of Karnataka, combining traditional elements with modern comforts.”

The airport, India’s third-busiest airport, recently issued a passenger alert, saying that a surge in passenger numbers is expected in the coming weeks ahead of a long weekend that includes Independence Day. The airport also unveiled its new official anthem, a unique musical composition in Kannada-English by the famous three-time Grammy award winner Ricky Kej.
