Berger’s Family Restaurant in Bay City, Michigan, will soon close its doors after nearly 100 years in business.

The Bay County-based family-owned business recently announced details of the closure via social media, citing an exact closing date of Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Owners Bruce and Michelle Berger have decided to exit their business on their own. As you can read in their official statement below, Bruce Berger is the fourth generation owner of Berger’s Family Restaurant. As you can imagine, this is a difficult decision after 96 years in business.

Higher labor, product and equipment costs are making it increasingly difficult to manage the business.

Was Berger’s family restaurant sold?

The building has been sold and will not reopen as a restaurant. The family was not happy with the sale of the Berger name. According to WNEM, the restaurant will be converted into office space.

If you’ve never been to Berger’s Family Restaurant in Bay City, get there before the doors officially close. If you’re a regular at Berger’s, you’ll probably make it a point to stop by every day.

The opening hours of Berger’s Family Restaurant are as follows:

• Monday: closed
• Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Thursday: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Sunday: 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
