Best Western is truly the “best”

Best Western is truly the “best”

S. ABINGTON TWP. – The Best Western, 820 Northern Blvd., was named “Best Hotel” in Best of the Abingtons for the second year in a row.

With its 103 rooms, this place offers both indoor and outdoor facilities to its guests. There is a venue for weddings and outdoor events on the hill with a garden, gazebo and terrace. It can accommodate about 150 people. There is also a 370 square meter ballroom for indoor events. Guests have access to a heated indoor pool, fitness center, business center and laundry facilities. There is also a complimentary breakfast buffet and high-speed WiFi. There is ample parking available for large vehicles such as trucks or buses.

Because of its location between Montage Mountain and Elk Mountain, the hotel accommodates ski groups who stay overnight during the winter.

Built in 1975, the Best Western was formerly the Ramada Inn. Over the years it housed restaurants such as The Alora Room and later Sydney’s. The hotel has undergone renovations, including a full kitchen and large refrigerators.

Last year, a new restaurant, Deacon’s Tavern, opened in the hotel’s former Jasmine Lounge. It was named after pioneer and Revolutionary War hero Deacon Clark, for whom nearby Clarks Summit was also named. General manager Dan Harris, who runs both the hotel and the restaurant, said Clark owned a tavern in his home.

“I took the issue and connected it to the city,” Harris said.

The restaurant offers American cuisine, including burgers, steaks and salads. Its signature dish is the Deacon Burger. There is also indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a bar with a daily happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. The outdoor patio hosts themed events. From now through September, they have Jimmy Buffet themed weekends, offering $5 quesadillas and themed drinks. They also have igloo dining in the winter. The outdoor patio will soon have a cigar smoking area.

Harris is happy to have the Best Western Hotel back in full operation.

“It’s a great hotel,” he said. “It’s in a great location and has great parking in the heart (of Abington).”
