Beware of these strict cancellation policies for restaurants in EPCOT

Deciding where to eat at Disney World is a difficult decision in and of itself, and you don’t need anything to make it even more difficult.

However, some of these restaurants may be difficult to GET a reservation for your meal. Some of the most popular table service restaurants at Disney World require reservations to be made well in advance, at 6 a.m., exactly 60 days before departure. But that’s so far in the future. What if something happens and you have to cancel? That shouldn’t be a problem, right? WRONG.

There are some restaurants in Disney World, especially the most expensive ones, that have pretty wild cancellation policies that you need to be aware of. One of them is Takumi-Teiin the Japan Pavilion at EPCOT.

This restaurant has a Multi-course tasting menu with traditional tea service, including signature cocktails, premium sake, wine and craft beers. The interior is inspired by the natural beauty of Japan. Disney states that “the design celebrates the relationship between Japanese craftsmanship and nature, while the food is inspired by the wonderful collaboration between nature and Takumi, the artisan.”

The food at this place is anything but cheap and If you do not cancel your reservation AT LEAST 48 hours in advance or do not show up at all, you will be charged a fee of $100 PER PERSON.!

A similar fate will befall those who Mr Paul Make your reservation in good time. This recently renovated restaurant in EPCOT’s France Pavilion is decorated in warm plum and spring green tones and features elegant yet contemporary furniture with velvet and leather textures.

Guests who cancel less than 72 hours in advance or do not show up at all will also be charged $100 per person. And that is NOT something you want to have to deal with on your Disney World trip.

A similar rule now applies to restaurants outside of the Disney World Parks but located in Disney World Hotels, such as Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. If you do not cancel your V&A reservation 5 DAYS in advance, you will be charged $100 per person.

For reference: Most other restaurants in the Disney World parks do not allow changes (including cancellations) within 2 hours of your table reservation., However, if you need to make changes or cancel, you will be charged $10 per person. (except for Cinderella’s Royal Table, where you will be charged the price of the entire experience per person.) While this is still not ideal and can add up, it’s much better than $100 per person!

So how can you avoid this? We know that things can change easily while on holiday, but Do your best to make sure your other plans are scheduled around those expensive dining reservations. Or, if you change your mind before the trip starts, cancel it IMMEDIATELY if you are 100% sure you no longer want it.

It is also very important Please read your booking reservation email in its entirety to ensure you fully understand the cancellation and change policies. You’re already spending so much money on your Disney World vacation that the last thing you want to do is do something that will increase your credit card bill more than expected.
