Beyoncé sends Trump campaign team cease and desist letter for unauthorized use of her song “Freedom”

Another day, another unauthorized use of a song by the Trump campaign team… Beyoncé adds her name to a long list of artists sending cease and desist letters to Trump or even suing him for using their songs without permission.

Beyoncé has reportedly threatened Donald Trump’s campaign team with legal action for using her song “Freedom” in a social media video without permission, just days after the singer announced the song as the official anthem for Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

Accordingly Rolling StoneThe singer’s record label has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Trump campaign team after the former president’s spokesman, Steven Cheung, posted a now-deleted video on X showing Trump getting off a plane with the song “Freedom” playing in the background.

Harris went to Freedom in July when she made her first public appearance since President Joe Biden announced that he would leave the ticket for 2024. In addition, Harris’ first presidential campaign video was set to the Beyoncé song, which is featured on the artist’s 2016 album “Lemonade.” The video is narrated by actor Jeffrey Wright, who says, “What kind of America do we want? One where we’re divided, angry and depressed? Come on! We’re Americans! Fascism? We conquered it. The moon? We landed on it. The future? We built it. Freedom? Nobody loves it more.”

Although Beyoncé has not publicly endorsed Harris as a presidential candidate, there are Rumors from CNN that on the last evening of the Democratic National Convention tonight.

Trump is notorious for using music at his campaign events without the artists’ permission. From Tom Petty, Neil Young, the Rolling Stones to Adele, Bruce Springsteen and Sinead O’Connor has issued a cease and desist order against the politician.

Dion’s team condemned the use and questioned the song choice, writing: “And really, THIS song?” – proving that Trump and his campaign team apparently little to no self-confidence when it comes to culture or the fact that his election campaign now feels like a sinking ship.
