Of the four new building permits issued in Alabama last week for construction projects over $1 million, two are for projects in the Birmingham metropolitan area.

One of them is for a new restaurant in Alabaster. Here’s what we know:

The new Big Whiskey’s restaurant is located in the building that formerly housed O’Charley’s, at 285 South Colonial Drive in Alabaster.

Founded in 2006 in downtown Springfield, Missouri, Big Whiskey’s offers a wide variety of menu items, including several specialties such as the famous Chicken Ranch Alfredo, the Honey Stung Burger, Boom Boom Shrimp Tacos and The Brunch Melt.

The popular restaurant also has an extensive drinks menu with over 120 whiskeys, including rare and allocated bottles.

The building permit is valued at $1.5 million, with Stanley Graham Construction LLC of Huntsville listed as the general contractor.
