The Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins renew their AFC East rivalry on Thursday Night Football after each overcame a deficit and earned victories in the opening week of the 2024 NFL season.
Josh Allen — who is 11-2 in 13 career games against Miami — scored four touchdowns as the Bills overcame a 14-point deficit to beat the Arizona Cardinals 34-28. The Dolphins also trailed by 14 points in Week 1 but rallied at the last second to win 20-17 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Over eight months ago, the Bills went to Hard Rock Stadium and beat the Dolphins in what was essentially an AFC East title game. That Week 18 game left the Bills as the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs, and the Dolphins were a wild card team and had to play the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs the next week in freezing Arrowhead Stadium. They lost one of the coldest playoff games in NFL history. A week later, the Chiefs’ loss ended the Bills’ season as well.
Both teams are starting the season with playoff ambitions and on Thursday evening it will be all about gaining an early lead in the division.
