Billy Crystal entered the stage in Emmy Awards 2024 on Sunday (September 15) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

The 76-year-old comedian and actor was on hand to present the award for the most outstanding talk series, a late-night talk show.

During his introduction, he shared his first impressions of each host of the nominated shows and they had something in common.

“The category I am hosting is Outstanding Talk Series, and that is very special to me because I recently realized that it has been almost 50 years since I The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson for the very first time”, Billy began.

After telling a story about that performance, he noted that he had kept a journal throughout his career with notes on his performances on the nominated shows. He then read out his thoughts after his first appearance on the shows.

“The daily showhad a great time with Jon (Stewart). Jon said, “Let’s meet later and have dinner right after the show.” I waited and he was gone. Late Night with Seth Meyersgreat and reserved, great interviewer. He said, “Let’s go to the Pebble Bar and have a drink,” and I waited and they said he had gone home,” Billy divided.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live. Had a fantastic time with JimmyHe was so easy to talk to. He said: “Let’s meet at my restaurant, we’ll have dinner.” So I went and Guillermo appeared. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Brilliant guy, but I wonder if he’s ever seen himself naked,” he continued. “I didn’t say these were funny, I said these were first impressions of the show. I enjoyed them all.”

He then joked, “Ladies and gentlemen, here’s the Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show. Whoever wins, if you want to have dinner after the show, I’ll be waiting for you.”

The prize went to The daily show.
