My analysis

Jonathan Aranda led the Tampa Bay Rays to victory for the second straight game with a home run as the hosts earned a narrow 3-2 victory, while Taj Bradley held the struggling Toronto Blue Jays lineup to one run on six hits in five innings.

I don’t expect things to get much better for the visitors in tonight’s series finale when they face Shane Baz, who is performing outstandingly for the Rays.

The 25-year-old managed two hits and two earned runs in seven innings against the Red Sox last Tuesday and has allowed no more than two earned runs in five consecutive starts, posting a measly 2.03 ERA during that span.

The Blue Jays have scored a total of six runs in their last four games. Toronto has a .228 batting average as a team over the last seven days, while their 17 runs scored during that span are fifth-worst in the major leagues. Nearly half of those runs came in a 13-8 loss to Texas on Tuesday.

Combine a weak Jays offense with a strong Rays starter and I think we’ll see another low-scoring performance from Toronto today.

My analysis

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. failed to record his 100th RBI of the season on Saturday, but it certainly wasn’t for lack of effort, as the Blue Jays star hit singles into all three parts of the outfield.D.

While the RBIs haven’t exactly been flowing over the last week, Guerrero Jr. has been seeing the ball very well, posting a .364 batting average over his last six games. I don’t expect the Jays to score many runs against Baz and the Rays, but if anyone is going to lead the charge, it will most likely be Vladdy.
