Bradley Airport affected by Debby’s remains

Bradley Airport affected by Debby’s remains

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) — Western Mass News turned to Bradley International Airport, where flights arrive from areas already affected by Debby.

Former Hurricane Debby moved through the southern regions of the United States and is now reaching the northeast.

Flights from areas like Atlanta, Orlando and Myrtle Beach seemed to land on time at Bradley International Airport, as travelers began arriving just as Debby’s remains moved into our area.

Western Mass News spoke with Sherrie Winokur, who said her immediate family was lucky in traveling from Atlanta to Hartford, but other family members were not so lucky.

“Our family members that we were supposed to meet here were unfortunately delayed in Baltimore, so they will not arrive until 8 a.m., they were supposed to arrive at 4 p.m.,” Winkour said.

Another family returning from Myrtle Beach had to change their vacation plans because of the weather.

“The duration of the trip was quite impacted by Debby, the storm essentially stayed in Myrtle Beach from Monday through today,” said Lloyd Moraven.

He told us that many things they were looking forward to were disrupted or cancelled.

“Many activities were cancelled, beach activities, eating out, hotels and the like, restaurants were closed.”

A passenger returning from Dublin said that although her flight here was smooth, several flights had been cancelled and there had been no original plan to land in Bradley.

“This morning I received notification that my flight was canceled and rescheduled so I was able to rebook it, but it was going to Philadelphia, not Hartford,” said Philadelphia resident Susannah Duncan.

Bradley is experiencing some delays and cancellations, so it’s best to check with your airline if you’re booked on a flight tonight or on the weekend.
