Brazos Midstream completes new gas processing plant and announces further expansion plans

Brazos Midstream, a Permian Basin-focused company, has announced the completion of a new gas processing plant and further expansion plans, GlobalData reports.

The 200 million cubic feet/day Sundance I plant in Martin County, Texas, is scheduled to begin operations in October 2024.

This is an important step in the Company’s strategy to improve its infrastructure in the Midland Basin.

Brazos is also nearing completion of construction on approximately 175 miles of high-pressure natural gas gathering pipelines ranging in diameter from 16 to 24 inches.

These pipelines, along with additional midstream facilities, extend across Ector, Glasscock, Howard, Martin, Midland and Reagan counties in the Midland Basin.

Once this phase is complete, Brazos will manage approximately 418 kilometers of natural gas pipelines and ten compressor stations in the region.

To support expected production growth, Brazos has also announced plans to build an additional 300 million cubic feet cryogenic gas processing facility.3/d capacity, which is expected to be operational in the second half of 2025.

This expansion increases the company’s total processing capacity to 500 million cubic feet3/D.

Brad Iles, CEO of Brazos, said: “These expansion projects are a testament to our continued commitment to building high-quality assets in the Permian Basin and providing the best possible service to our producing customers.

“The Permian Basin accounts for a quarter of all marketed natural gas production in the Lower 48, and although it was discovered over a century ago, production is expected to continue to increase in the coming years. Our asset base represents mission-critical infrastructure that provides reliable capacity for existing Permian gas production, which has been historically undersupplied.”

The new gathering and processing system is part of corporate partner Brazos Midstream Holdings III and is supported by investments from Old Ironsides Energy, Encap Flatrock Midstream, Brazos management and other strategic investors.

In addition, Brazos secured a new preferred equity investment with EOC Partners, Elda River Capital and co-investors and expanded its existing revolving credit facility led by BOK Financial.

These financial partnerships provide Brazos with the resources to continue its growth in the Permian Basin.
