BURBANK, Calif. – September 11, 2024 – A kingdom far, far away offers fantastical, emotional and humorous journeys in Nickelodeon’s all-new computer-animated series Max & the Midknights, making its television debut Wednesday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT. Nickelodeon today released the trailer, key art and voice cast for the original series. Based on the bestselling children’s books by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate), the series follows an adventurous 10-year-old named Max who embarks on a quest with her new friends to save the kingdom of Byjovia from dark forces.

The first episode, “Welcome to Byjovia,” introduces Max, a medieval girl who dreams of becoming a knight and fighting dragons, but is instead forced to travel with her Uncle Budrick as a troubadour’s apprentice. After encountering a thief, Max and Uncle Budrick head to the medieval kingdom of Byjovia, but soon discover that the town is very different from how Uncle Budrick remembers it. New episodes of Max & the Midknights continue to air Wednesdays at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon. The show will air internationally on Nickelodeon starting October 10.

The voice cast of the Midknights, a group of misfits each with unique talents, includes: Blu del Barrio (Star Trek: Discovery) as Max, a brave and determined girl who takes on any challenge that comes her way; Melissa Villaseñor (Saturday Night Live) as Millie, a crazy but extremely positive girl who gives the Midknights magical powers; Zeno Robinson (Transformers: EarthSpark) as Simon, Millie’s street-wise and sometimes sarcastic sidekick; and Caleb Yen (Beyblade X) as Kevyn, the well-read genius with the photographic memory. Together, the group accomplishes almost everything they set out to do.

In addition to the Midknights, Jeremy Rowley (“iCarly”) lends his voice as Uncle Budrick, Max’s lovably goofy parent figure and professional troubadour, Gary Anthony Williams (“Central Park”) voices Mumblin, a famous retired wizard who accompanies the Midknights on their missions, Brian Stepanek (“Welcome to the Loud”) voices King Gastley, the nefarious ruler of Byjovia who would do anything to keep his throne, and India de Beaufort (“It’s Pony”) voices Fendra, a dark sorceress who works for King Gastley.

Throughout the series, Max leads the rest of the Midknights on challenging missions filled with all-new original songs. After King Gastley steals the throne and imposes an unjust rule on the kingdom of Byjovia, Max must rush to the rescue to overthrow the power-hungry enemy. With her friends and Uncle Budrick by her side, Max’s brave spirit will not waver, no matter how difficult the mission becomes.

Max & the Midknights is produced by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank and is executive produced by Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate) and Jane Startz (Ella Enchanted). Sharon Flynn (All Hail King Julien) and David Skelly (Toy Story 2) serve as co-executive producers and showrunners. Development and production are overseen by Claudia Spinelli, senior vice president, TV series animation, Nickelodeon; Nathan Schram, vice president, development, Nickelodeon Animation; and Stephanie Alpert, vice president, production, Nickelodeon Animation.
