OGDENSBURG – Passengers departing from Ogdensburg have three options for connecting flights through Nov. 21.
Breeze Airways will take over as Ogdensburg International Airport’s Essential Air Service airline on October 1. It will offer daily flights to and from Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC. It will also offer connecting flights from Washington to Provo, Utah on October 1.
Beginning November 8, it will offer connecting flights from Washington to South Bend, Indiana, and on November 21, a third connecting flight will be offered from Washington to Vero Beach, Florida.
Breeze has no interairline agreements, which means that flights from Washington require a second ticket. Luggage must be collected and rebooked.
Charlie Garrelts, manager of the Ogdensburg airport, said Breeze is working to finalize agreements between the airlines.
“They plan to have this implemented by the end of the year,” he said Friday afternoon, adding that the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority, which owns and operates Ogdensburg International Airport, is not part of that process.
Contour Air offers flights to and from Philadelphia until September 30th.
The Essential Air Service program is a federal program of the U.S. Department of Transportation that subsidizes flights between smaller airports like Ogdensburg and larger air transportation hubs.
