Brock Purdy’s contract details: How much is his salary and how many years does he have left?

After leading the team to Super Bowl LVIII, Brock Purdy, quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers can claim to be one of the most consistent and reliable at his position throughout the 2023 NFL season.

But despite making a positive impression, Purdy hasn’t made a lot of money. At least not yet.

Brock Purdy was the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft when he was signed by the San Francisco 49ers, earning himself the unenviable title of “Mr. Irrelevant.” The Iowa State graduate has exceeded all expectations but is still tied to the four-year rookie contract he signed in 2022.

Contract analysis of Bruck Purdy at the San Francisco 49ers

Despite a very impressive 2023 season – he leads the entire league in passer ratings – Purdy’s salary remains far lower than usual for a starting QB. Purdy is on the same Four-year contract worth $3.7 million which he signed first.

The contract included a guaranteed sum of $77,008 and an average annual value (AAV) of $934,252. After leading his team to the Super Bowl, Purdy earned a base salary of $870,000 in 2023This is what the contract looks like for the next two years…

Year Basic salary Bonuses CapHit Dead Cap
2023 870,000 US dollars 19,252 USD 889,252 USD 57,756 USD
2024 985,000 US dollars 19,252 USD $1,004,252 38,504 USD
2025 1,100,000 USD 19,252 USD 1,119,252 USD 19,252 USD

Essentially, Purdy’s deal is so cheap because he was so highly ranked in the NFL Draft. As the very last player taken in the 2022 draft, he wasn’t exactly in a strong position since his rookie contracts were based on draft spot. At No. 262, he was literally at the bottom of the pile.

But it’s not all bad news for Purdy. His low salary allowed the 49ers to build a superstar offenseone of the most versatile in the league. With such a variety of runners at his disposal, Purdy has flourished in the NFL and now appears poised to land a huge contract of his own.

How much could Brock Purdy’s new contract be worth?

Last season, Purdy finished fourth in the NFL Most Valuable Player vote. But in his own locker room, he is the 41. best earnerOf course, that situation will change and developments elsewhere in the league mean the 24-year-old is in for a huge payday.

Last Sunday Dak Prescot signed a four-year, $240 million contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys. That $60 million annual contract makes him the highest-paid player in league history and sets Purdy up for something similar.

NBC Bay Area reports that Purdy will use Prescott’s contract as a benchmark for his own multi-year contract extension. Going from one of the cheapest QBs in the league to one of the most expensive will undoubtedly impact the 49ers’ finances, but they should be able to pull off a huge deal. Before the 2024 season San Francisco had the highest salary cap in the league at $55 millionIt’s only right that some of it goes to Purdy, the former Mr. Irrelevant.
