Brooklyn man charged in fatal stabbing at Bronx subway station

BRONX, NY — A Brooklyn man has been charged with first-degree manslaughter after a 33-year-old man was stabbed to death in a Bronx subway station on Saturday.

Shane Cunnison, 37, of 395 Ocean Avenue in Brooklyn, was arrested and charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of Nigel Dumas, 33, who lived at 617 Story Avenue in the Bronx. The incident occurred at approximately 3:21 p.m. at the East 149th Street and Third Avenue subway station, which is located within the 40th Precinct and Transit District 12.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in the subway station. When officers arrived, they found Dumas with a stab wound to his upper body. Emergency medical services arrived on the scene and transported Dumas to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead despite efforts to save his life.

The investigation is ongoing, but Cunnison was taken into custody. According to the New York Police Department, no other arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

  • Suspect shoots another man during altercation in Aliquippa

    ALIQUIPPA, PA – Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred outside a residence in Aliquippa early Saturday morning.

    The City of Aliquippa Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at the Valley Terrace Apartments in the 500 block of Superior Avenue at approximately 12:33 a.m. Officers were told that an argument between two men escalated and one of the men fired a gun at the other.

    The shooter, wearing a red hoodie and black sweatpants, fired three shots at the other man. Fortunately, none of the shots hit the victim.

    The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Authorities have identified the man responsible for the shooting, but his name has not been released pending the completion of the investigation.

    Aliquippa Police continue to investigate the incident and ask anyone with information to come forward.

  • Huntersville police officer hit and injured by car during domestic call

    HUNTERSVILLE, NC – A Huntersville police officer was injured early Saturday morning when a suspect struck him with a car while responding to a domestic dispute.

    The incident occurred at approximately 1:15 a.m. in the 14500 block of Cordial Lane. Huntersville Police officers were called to the scene after reports of a domestic altercation. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the complainant, who advised them that the suspect, identified as Amanda Nicole Benton, 44, of Huntersville, was in her vehicle in the parking lot.

    As officers approached the vehicle, Benton accelerated and struck one of the officers. The extent of the officer’s injuries was not disclosed.

    Investigations in the area of ​​Cordial Lane and Merry Chase Lane continued throughout the morning as police gathered evidence and worked to establish the circumstances leading to the incident.

    Further details, including Benton’s current status and possible charges, have not been released. Huntersville Police have not provided any additional information at this time.
