Bubba Hunt has a new project: Golf shop in Boro

Bubba Hunt owned many successful businesses in the Statesboro area and held a variety of jobs. He owned a used car dealership, a pawn shop, and a real estate company, to name a few.

One business that fell by the wayside about 10 years ago was Bubba Golf. Recently, Bubba’s son Matthew started playing golf, and like Michael Corleone in The Godfather III, Bubba was pulled back in just when he thought he was out.

“I had a great passion for repairing and adjusting clubs, but eventually I got bored and even stopped playing golf,” Hunt said. “About 10 years later, Matthew started playing golf. I played with him a few times and was hooked again.”

As his passion for golf was rekindled, Hunt noticed how much golf technology had changed and how it was now even easier to repair and adjust clubs. That’s when he decided to revive Bubba Golf.

“Golf has changed so much in the last 10 to 15 years,” Hunt said. “From the clothes they wear on the course, to the ability to customize clubs, to the fact that people now listen to music while they play in their golf carts, all of that fits right in with my type of brand.”

That’s another thing Bubba brought to all his endeavors: passion.

“A lot of the clothing is bold and bold,” Hunt said. “We’ll have camouflage shirts and Hawaiian shirts and a lot with the Bubba Golf logo, which is a picture of me in overalls with some kind of mountain and a goat in the background. We’ll also have a lot of branded products that golf fans know and trust.”

Bubba Golf is located just off East Main St., directly behind his real estate company, Re/Max Eagle Creek Realty, on Northside Drive.

In addition to selling merchandise, Hunt and his team will also be carrying out repairs and adjustments to golf clubs using a state-of-the-art Trackman simulator, which is due to be installed next month. The simulator will be able to adjust clubs to different ability levels and sizes.

“It used to be very difficult and time-consuming to repair a shaft, but today you can simply screw in a new one,” said Hunt.

“We carry a wide range of shafts and clubs. A lot of people don’t play with the right shafts and we can test your swing and get you properly equipped here. We can also restring clubs and carry a lot of different balls, clubs and bags.”

Bubba Golf is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We want this to be a one-stop shop for all your golf needs,” said Hunt. “From beginners and kids to adults of all skill levels. From gadgets and gadgets to apparel and clubs.”

“The support has already been incredible. Our website bubbagolf.com is live and offers an easy way to order things if you can’t make it to the store.

“I’m excited to have my son and son-in-law in this business, and we plan to just get bigger and better here.”
