Buffalo Bills OT Spencer Brown signs contract extension

Buffalo Bills OT Spencer Brown signs contract extension

On Friday afternoon – and only two days before the Buffalo Bills The 2024-25 season begins with a home game against the Arizona Cardinals – the team announced that offensive tackle Spencer Brown has agreed to a four-year contract extension that will keep him in Buffalo through 2028. Details have yet to be announced.

The 26-year-old Northern Iowa product was selected by general manager Brandon Beane in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Although he was considered very inexperienced and had some poor performances in the first two years of his career, he took a big step forward in 2023, starting all 17 regular-season games for an offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks in the league (24).

Brown’s rookie contract only ran through 2024, and it’s clear Buffalo didn’t want to take the risk of other teams signing him with the next free agent. And with Buffalo still very short on cap space, any flexibility is worth it, and the contract will likely create some room for 2024.

Still, Brown looked like a star in 2023 and hopefully he can continue to improve as both a pass and run protector over the life of this contract. Check out The Buffalo News“Quote from Katherine Fitzgerald on Brown’s motivations for signing the extension.

Back in June, we predicted that Brown would be the next contract given to a Bills player, and it looks like we were right.
