Burglar trapped in Corvette in South Beach begs owner for help

MIAMI BEACH, Florida. – The owner of a Miami Beach Corvette found himself faced with an unusual situation when he discovered an intruder trapped in his car and asked for help to get out.

“My brother, this is not your car, this is my car,” Julio Solano, the owner of the car, asked 33-year-old Ravesh Rabindranauth.

“Can I get out?” Rabindranauth Solano was heard asking as the phone call with the victim was recorded.

“No, you can’t go out. We’re calling the police,” Solano replied.

Solano told Local 10 News on Tuesday that he was stunned when he returned to his car after breakfast Monday morning and saw Rabindranauth sitting inside, pleading for help.

The incident occurred in a parking garage at the corner of Washington Avenue and 16th Street in Miami Beach.

Miami Beach police arrived at the scene and arrested Rabindranauth, who now faces burglary charges.

Julio Solano is convinced that Rabindranauth managed to break into the vehicle, but was unable to start it or escape due to the car’s security systems.

“Without the key, the car’s electrical components don’t work and luckily he didn’t know about the manual door release under the seat,” Solano said.

Investigators said Solano notified the owner of Premiere Auto Miami 1, an exotic car rental company that stores its vehicles in the garage.

Authorities said Rabindranauth was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with officers. A routine records check revealed he has no local criminal record or outstanding arrest warrants.

According to prison records, he is charged with one count of burglary of an unoccupied means of transportation.

He has been held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center since Tuesday, where his bail was set at $2,500.
