BWI Airport’s monthly passenger record was broken in June

BALTIMORE – A record monthly number of travelers flew through BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport in June.

The airport recorded 2,603,847 commercial passengers in June, an increase of 11% compared to June 2023.

The 2024 fiscal year was also a new record year for BWI Marshall Airport, with just over 27 million passengers.

“The continued success of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport supports our efforts to make Maryland more competitive by increasing tourism, attracting businesses, stimulating economic growth and creating jobs throughout our state,” said Maryland Governor Wes Moore. “This record-breaking performance underscores our strength and our administration remains committed to improving convenient and efficient airport travel that continues to position Maryland as a gateway to the nation and the world.”

According to the airport, BWI Marshall Airport generates a total economic impact of $11.3 billion.

“These new records reflect the strong demand for air travel and the resilience of the aviation industry,” said Ricky Smith, executive director and chief executive officer of BWI Marshall Airport. “Our airport has a growing route network and growth in leisure and business travel.”
