BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has opened its first dealership in Poland as the Chinese alternative energy vehicle (NEV) maker continues to expand its presence in Europe.

The store in Poland’s capital Warsaw opened on August 6 and is, according to a press release yesterday, a joint project between BYD and Cichy-Zasada, Poland’s largest car dealership group.

BYD and Cichy-Zasada executives attended an opening ceremony and witnessed the first presentation of the BYD seal to a local owner.

The Chinese NEV manufacturer announced in May that it would gradually launch the Seal, Dolphin and Seal U models, known in China as Song Plus EV, in Poland.

The three models are currently presented on the BYD Poland website.

In addition to the store in Warsaw, BYD plans to open stores in Polish cities such as Poznan, Wroclaw, Krakow and Szczecin to build a distribution network covering the whole of Poland.

To date, BYD has offered a total of seven models in over 20 European countries.

BYD will continue to expand the European market in the future and offer users high-quality, sustainable mobility experiences, it said.

BYD stopped producing and selling pure combustion engine vehicles in March 2022 and focused on producing plug-in hybrids and pure electric vehicles.

The company sold 342,383 NEVs in July, up 30.60 percent year-on-year and 0.21 percent from June, according to figures released on August 1.

This included 340,799 NEVs for passenger transport and 1,584 NEVs for commercial use. In July, BYD sold 30,014 NEVs in overseas markets.

BYD is considering entering the Canadian automotive market
