The temperatures suggest it’s still summer, and although school has already started for most, it’s still technically summer. Labor Day is still around the corner, the calendar hasn’t turned to September yet, and it’s still warm enough to enjoy the pool, water parks, lake, and river. All signs point to summer still being in full swing, but if you go to certain stores, they’re covered in fall decorations and even offer Halloween candy, Halloween decorations, and costumes. Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons in Idaho, and perhaps the best season of all. In Idaho especially, it means cooler weather, football, hay mazes, corn mazes, scary attractions, and Halloween. While these are some of the best memories of the year, it may be a little too early to start looking forward to it. There are no major holidays from now until Halloween other than Labor Day, but Halloween is still over 2 months away, and yet stores start putting out Christmas decorations and candy. Most kids aren’t thinking about what they want to be, and are more concerned about their new classmates and teachers. at this point. How soon is too early for Halloween shopping in Idaho?

Halloween and Fall Shopping in Idaho

For those Who are Costco, TJ Max, HomeGoods, and many other stores looking to get an early start on fall and Halloween shopping have already put up some decorations and they’ve been available for a few weeks now. There are already people stocking up on Halloween decorations and getting ready for the holiday, even though it’s still quite a while away. I have friends who have already spent over $100 on the holiday this year. Getting fall decorations isn’t so bad since it’s fast approaching, and with football starting and school starting again in less than two weeks, it’s going to feel like fall soon enough. Buying costumes now will put you ahead of the curve and maybe a little ambitious, but at least you’ll have one less thing to worry about come October. The downside to buying a costume for a child this early is that in two months, they may want something different.

No matter how excited you are for the upcoming season and holiday, two months is too early to start shopping for Halloween. Wait a few weeks to a month, wait a few weeks until football season, and then start shopping and browsing for the spooky day. Buying fall decorations is fine, but it’s too early to rush out and get them out. Buy them when you see a great deal, but hold off on them for a few more weeks. Even though stores have Halloween products on the shelves, that doesn’t mean you have to buy them yet.
