Candy recall: 29 candies and snacks sold at Walmart and Target have been recalled, throw them away immediately

Palmer Candy Company candies and snacks sold at retailers such as Walmart and Target have been recalled due to the risk of salmonella poisoning, according to a recall notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Although the recall was initiated in May, it was reclassified as a “Class I recall” on August 6, 2024.

The FDA defines a Class I recall as “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that use of or exposure to a noncompliant product will result in serious health consequences or death.”

Despite the reclassification, no injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.

According to the FDA announcement, pretzels, cookies and snack mixes were all affected by the recall.

Since the first recall, Palmer Candy Company has stopped production of the affected products.

The Palmer Candy Company is not the only candy retailer recalling its products.

Two years ago, Mars Wrigley recalled Skittles, Starburst and LifeSavers gummy bears due to metal contamination.
