All 20 Premier League teams have either already played a game in the 2024/25 Carabao Cup or will do so for the first time in the next two weeks.
First division clubs not competing in Europe took part in the draw in the second round, while the remaining teams took part from the third round onwards. These matches will take place between 17 and 24 September.
This year’s competition, in which Liverpool are defending champions, has been moved up the schedule slightly for the earlier rounds, but the final will be played later than in 2024.
Below you’ll find the full draw for Round 3, along with the latest results and a quick overview of what the EFL Cup format will look like this season.

How does the 2024/25 Carabao Cup work?
All 92 clubs from the four highest English football leagues take part in the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons): Premier League (20 clubs), Championship (24 clubs), League One (24) and League Two (24).
The 13 Premier League clubs not involved in European cup competitions entered in the second round, with the remaining eight teams joining in the third round.
- First round: 13-14 August
- Second round: 27-28 August
- Third round (round of 32): 17-24 September
- Fourth round (round 16): October 30
- Quarterfinals: 18 December
- Semifinals: January 8, 2025 (Stage 1), February 5, 2025 (Stage 2)
- Final: March 16, 2025
Each round is played on a knockout basis, except for the semi-finals, which are played on a home and away basis. There is no extra time up to and including the quarter-finals, and if the score is tied after 90 minutes, the match goes straight to a penalty shootout.
However, there will be extra time for the semi-final second legs (no tiebreaker due to the away goals rule) and the final, if necessary.
