SALISBURY-based Carpetright is one of 19 businesses saved from closure by a rescue plan.

As previously reported, the store at Bourne Retail Park, Dairy Meadow Lane, closed at the end of July after Carpetright Ltd filed for bankruptcy.

The closures resulted in more than 1,000 jobs being lost across the UK.

Shortly after the appointment of insolvency administrators, the brand was sold to competitor Tapi along with 54 stores and two warehouses.

However, Bensons for Beds has now announced that it will save 19 of the more than 200 remaining stores that Carpetright says are facing permanent closure.
