Caution! Hidden camera in café toilets?

Bengaluru was shocked on Saturday when a woman complained about a smartphone that was secretly placed in the toilet of a Third Wave cafe in BEL Nagar, Sanjay Nagar. Third Wave Coffee is a popular Indian cafe with branches in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune, to name a few.

The smartphone was placed in the trash can in airplane mode. There was a small hole in the trash can through which the camera lens was visible. The phone had reportedly been recording for two hours until it was found by the woman who filed the complaint.

According to the management of the Third Wave Coffee in question, the smartphone belonged to an employee. The employee in question was immediately fired and arrested by the police. A report was also filed with the local police station.

This incident was shared on social media on the popular Bangalore-based Instagram page gangsofcinepur. The woman wrote, “This was so horrible to watch. I will be vigilant in every toilet from now on, no matter how famous the restaurant chain is. And I request you all to do the same. This is disgusting.”
