CBSA: “Partial system failure” impacts airport services – National

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said on Tuesday that a “partial system outage” was affecting customs services at airports across the country.

In a post on social media platform X, the agency said it was working with its partners to resolve the issue.

No information was provided on which services were affected, nor was there an estimate as to when the issue might be resolved.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this outage may cause and thank travelers for their understanding and patience,” the agency said in a statement to Global News.

Several Canadian airports reported that the outage affected the automated customs screening kiosks used by international travelers entering Canada.

Vancouver International Airport told Global News that CBSA staff are manually processing all international travellers while the agency works to resolve the outage.

A spokesperson for Montreal-Trudeau International Airport told Global News that there had been “no major impact” on operations, but the outage was causing a slowdown.

“Technicians are currently conducting an assessment and a contingency plan has been put in place to allow passengers to be processed, although of course with a longer delay than usual,” spokeswoman Nadia Benelfellah said in an email.

Travelers would also be informed about the problem via loudspeaker announcements, Benelfellah said.

The CBSA said additional resources would be made available to minimize wait times.
