Celebrate National Thrift Shop Day tomorrow at Goodwill!

Celebrate National Thrift Shop Day tomorrow at Goodwill!

Let’s face it – everyone has that one pair of jeans in their closet that’s just waiting to fit again one day. Instead of waiting for that time to actually happen, why not give that pair of jeans a fresh start in someone else’s wardrobe, find an affordable pair that you can actually wear here and now, and support thousands of people in our community?

Tomorrow is National Thrift Shop Day, and Goodwill invites you to join in and celebrate! Whether you’re donating those jeans, looking for a new pair, or just want to discover what Goodwill is doing for the Columbus community (did you know they 13 million pounds Clothes that end up in landfills in central Ohio every year?) – there is something for everyone.

A trip to Goodwill is more than just a shopping adventure, and donating to the nonprofit means more than just cleaning up clutter – it’s also a chance to support thousands of workers and a variety of initiatives right here in Central Ohio.

The old jeans you donated get a new life at Goodwill, creating unique opportunities for employees, many of whom have disabilities or setbacks that impact their career choices. From the kind hands in the donation center to the labelers and organizers categorizing the racks and shelves, your donation or purchase fuels a collective effort to change the world. Yes, even one pair of jeans at a time!

Goodwill has also partnered with local organizations to help people learn new skills and find careers. For example, their partnership with Franklinton Cycle Works teaches people with disabilities how to refurbish bicycles and earn extra income! Through their partnership with the Columbus Urban League and Pursuit, the My Brother’s Closet program provides free suits and career counseling for people looking to re-enter the workforce after setbacks in the justice system. And their collaboration with The Harmony Project and We Amplify Voices provides participants with disabilities a platform to express themselves through music and art. Additionally, Goodwill’s state-certified nursing assistant training opens doors for those seeking careers in healthcare.

Caring has never been this easy—or this stylish, or this cool. For over 85 years, Goodwill has kept clothing and appliances affordable and accessible while supporting the workforce of today and tomorrow, all thanks to your contributions (and probably your addiction to secondhand shopping!). And that’s not stopping anytime soon.

Celebrate National Thrift Shop Day tomorrow by visiting one of the many Goodwill locations in Central Ohio – find the one closest to you here.

And in the meantime, see the impact your donation has on our community:
