Céline Dion distances herself from Donald Trump’s “My Heart Will Go On” at rally

Former President Donald Trump has a long history of using popular songs without permission at his campaign rallies – from the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Linkin Park and even Celine Dion. Many of these songs seem to have titles or meanings that hardly suggest victory, such as “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” or, in the current case, “My Heart Will Go On,” Celine Dion’s theme song from the 1997 film Titanic, in which thousands of people die on a sinking luxury liner.

Trump has used the song at rallies in the past, but on Friday night in Montana he also used a video of Dion singing the song. On Saturday, Dion distanced herself from any support of his campaign and questioned the use of the song.

Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc.

“I am aware of the unauthorized use of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump/JD Vance campaign rally in Montana,” the statement said.

“This use is in no way authorized and Céline Dion does not endorse this or any similar use.

…and really, this song?”
