Charged Electric Vehicles | Versinetic integrates EVerest software into its charging station development kit

UK charging consultancy Versinetic has integrated the open source EV software framework EVerest into a modular, flexible software stack designed for charging station manufacturers and operators.

Versinetic has ported EVerest to its standard Charging Blox for electric vehicle charging – a modular framework of hardware and low-level firmware that does not require long-term subscription models.

The EVerest framework allows for interchangeable modules and easy addition of new features. The modular design makes it easier for charging station manufacturers to customize the software to their specific needs. EVerest can integrate a charge controller to make chargers “smart”, add a “smart” interface while integrating charge controller hardware, or develop a complete charging system.

Customization options include dialing the home page for remote diagnostics, creating custom load balancers, and interfacing with property management systems with interfaces to additional hardware, payment terminals, site meters, and RFID.

The project was developed as part of the Linux Foundation Energy initiative with the goal of accelerating innovation in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and promoting interoperability. This open source approach supports local energy management and allows developers to contribute to the code base.

“By leveraging the open source EVerest platform and integrating it into our Charging Blox, we are enabling faster time to market with reliable, high-performance chargers,” said Graeme Wintle, Director of Versinetic.
