Chase in New Jersey ends with accident in Elmwood Park; suspect at large

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (WABC) — An investigation is underway in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, after a police chase apparently ended in an accident.

According to initial reports, Paramus police began pursuing a silver Honda on Route 17.

At some point the police used nail barriers, which caused significant damage to the car even before the accident.

The driver of the Honda eventually led police to the Garden State Parkway near the entrance to Interstate 80.

Then there was a collision between a police car and the Honda, with the Honda flying through the side guardrail and landing in the grass.

Although the officer’s patrol car was also destroyed, he remained unharmed.

Three occupants of the car were arrested while police continue to search for a fourth person.

It is unclear why the police chase began.
