Tecuen

Local couple Emanuel Pena and his wife Yuri Corral have opened a family-oriented eatery in Burleson Crossing that specializes in crepes and coffee. Tecuen offers a selection of sweet and savory crepes, coffee, tea and juices. Customers can either create their own crepe from a list of 22 ingredients or choose one of the house specialties. Pena said the team plans to add handmade popsicles to the menu.

Willow Riverside

Bastrop resident Collin Hubble opened the retreat and event center to accommodate weekend getaways and special occasions such as weddings, family reunions, corporate events and more. The pet-friendly property is spread across 11 acres with water access and offers nine rooms, while the event space can accommodate up to 150 people.

The new laundromat opened in Bastrop on April 4. The business has 32 washers and 46 dryers. Self-service and delivery services are offered. Wash and fold services are $1.49 per pound for same-day or next-day deliveries.

MoBull Detailing

The auto detailing shop opened on July 1 and offers services for all types of vehicles. The shop offers complete interior and exterior detailing, paint correction, ceramic coatings and more. A representative for the company said detailing services start at $100 and add-on services start at $30.

Dockside BTX

The family-owned Dockside Boiling Pot will replace the former Cedars Mediterranean and Italian Grill, which closed following the death of owner, chef and longtime Bastrop resident Khalil Younes on Jan. 11.

Dockside BTX offers a selection of boiled and fried seafood.

Old Coyote Cafe

Owners Roland Barrera and Dan Mages have set up the all-organic, locally-sourced restaurant in a 31-foot Airstream trailer. The farm-to-go breakfast taco concept uses ingredients like non-GMO grass-fed beef brisket, smoked Oaxacan queso, beef chorizo, nopales and farm-fresh eggs. A grand opening party will be held August 30-September 1 with food, drinks and live music.

Ad Astra

Elon Musk’s Montessori school will open in the fall and will focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). At Hyperloop Plaza, the program will be split into two programs for ages 3-6 and 6-9.

Blake’s Music Store

Local owner Gary Blake will move from downtown Bastrop to the Colorado Crossing Shopping Center to offer a wider selection of instruments and accessories, increasing the store’s space from 600 to 5,000 square feet. Blake said his team will also begin offering music lessons.

Austin Retina

The clinic was originally scheduled to open in spring 2025. However, Austin Retina spokeswoman Pam Shipley said the clinic will move early from 1106 College Street to 627 Hwy. 71 W. — next to Crossroads Animal Hospital. Shipley said the move will give them more space so the clinic can treat a larger number of patients with state-of-the-art technology.

The latest phase of Bastrop HE-B’s expansion plans began in July with a temporary grocery-side entrance and relocated curbside area and dairy section as part of the grocery store’s $30 million project, which will also include a True Texas BBQ restaurant. Other upcoming renovations customers can expect include more pharmacy space, an expanded produce area, renovated meat and seafood markets, improved refrigerated counters and more.

Leo’s Italian Grill

The local Italian restaurant celebrated its fifth anniversary on May 7. It first opened its doors to the Bastrop community in May 2019. The menu features Leo Gaertner’s family recipes, including dishes like Grandma’s Lasagna Pie, Meatball Sliders with homemade Hawaiian rolls, and Italian Cream Pie.

Taxolot

Owner Jose Gerardo Cavazos has temporarily closed his food truck at Community Gardens, which served northern Mexican cuisine with a twist. Cavazos said he hopes to reopen the truck at a new location sometime in September.
