Chestnut Coffee Shop expands to Clemson

Greenville’s Chestnut Café expands to Clemson.

Over the weekend of August 16, the store announced on social media that it would be opening a location in the former Stumphouse Cafe/Creamery space at 115 Market St. in Patrick Square. Stumphouse closed on August 18.

“It will be the classic Chestnut, but in Tigertown,” said co-owner Brandi Ward.

Ward said the Clemson store will be decorated with orange accents and university memorabilia, and is scheduled to open in early September to coincide with the first home game against Appalachian State.

Earlier this year, Chestnut announced plans for a location in Five Forks across from the sports club on Scuffletown Road. Ward said the opening should take place in October.

Ward has a background in interior design, so he is responsible for the stores’ aesthetics. The Five Forks Café will feature pink, wallpaper and chandeliers.

“The coffee and the experience are the same, but the atmosphere is different in each (Chestnut),” Ward said.

The cafe’s main store in Greenville’s Verdae community serves Methodical Coffee roasted beans and lattes with house-made syrups, and there’s also a nearby market with locally-sourced food and household goods.
