Chicago stabbing: Man fatally stabbed in altercation at gas station on Halsted Street in Gresham, CPD says

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police are investigating a fatal stabbing attack during an altercation at a South Side gas station that occurred Wednesday morning.

A 36-year-old man was inside a gas station in the 7600 block of South Halsted Street in Gresham shortly before 11:15 a.m. when a 38-year-old man and a 20-year-old man entered the gas station, police said.

According to CPD, both men pulled the 36-year-old’s hair.

The man then pulled out a knife and stabbed the 38-year-old in the neck, police said.

The 20-year-old pulled out a gun and hit the 36-year-old in the face, police said.

The 36-year-old fled and the two suspects also left the gas station and were arrested by the police.

The 38-year-old was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died.

The 36-year-old was taken to the University of C in good condition.

No one else was injured and a weapon was found at the scene, police said.

The CPD initially reported the incident as an attempted robbery. It was not immediately clear what led to the altercation.

The detectives from Area Two are investigating.
