Chiefs beat Bengals 26-25 in last-minute thriller

Chiefs beat Bengals 26-25 in last-minute thriller

It was part of a big play for Conner, who later sacked Burrow on third down in the fourth quarter. The play forced the Bengals, who had scored a field goal to take the lead immediately after Conner’s touchdown, to punt the ball with two minutes, 35 seconds left in the game.

The Chiefs soon found themselves in a long fourth down situation on their ensuing possession, but a pass interference call extended the drive and allowed Butker to make a potentially game-winning 51-yard field goal attempt. Butker held on, and after a wild play marked by numerous momentum swings throughout the game, Kansas City emerged victorious.

It was another example of the Chiefs’ trademark resilience under Mahomes, who on Sunday tied Tom Brady and Roger Staubach for the most quarterback wins (76) in 100 starts in NFL history.

“By the time the clock hits zero, I feel like we have a chance to win the football game,” Mahomes said. “Obviously, we’ve done that in so many different ways, so we’re prepared. We go into it with the mindset that if we get the football and have a chance to win the game, we’re going to win the game, and we did that today.”

In terms of injuries, running back Isiah Pacheco was the only player to leave the game for Kansas City. Reid gave a brief update on Pacheco’s status after the win.

“We’ll just have to wait and see. He’s being checked out right now – X-rays and all that stuff,” Reid said. “I can’t tell you exactly what it is, but he’s got an ankle injury.”

The Chiefs now turn their attention to facing the Atlanta Falcons next weekend on Sunday Night Football.
