DELRAY BEACH – Downtown Delray Beach continues to grow, with seven new retailers added this summer alone.

The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) announced in July the opening, expansion and relocation of 20 new restaurants and retailers.

“We are excited about the continued growth of Downtown Delray Beach,” said Laura Simon, executive director of the Delray Beach DDA. “Not only are we continuing to bring new retailers, businesses and restaurants to our business district, but we are also successfully and quickly filling vacancies when existing businesses decide to leave or relocate when their leases expire. These are all signs of a healthy downtown area.”

Here’s what’s happening in Delray Beach this summer:

Newly opened retailers

Chip City: The New York City-based deli cookie shop offers more than 40 varieties of fresh-baked treats. The popular bakery, located at 302 E. Atlantic Ave., opened on May 17, making it the third in the state. The other two Florida locations are in Miami and Miami Beach.

Candleland: Candle Land began as a pop-up store in various locations in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, offering visitors the opportunity to make their own custom candles. The Delray Beach location, 415 E. Atlantic Ave., opened on June 9. It is the brand’s third store in Florida, with the first two being in Fort Lauderdale and Coral Gables.

DELRAY RESTAURANTS: The Atlantic Avenue restaurant scene has several new additions and upcoming attractions

Delray Design Studio: The interior designer at Zelman Style Interiors offers innovative technology to help clients conceptualize their designs before construction begins. His downtown studio opened June 13 at 111 SE First Ave.

DELRAY RESTAURANTS: New Greek restaurant opens on Atlantic Avenue, promising bold flavors and energy

Retailers move to Delray Beach

Tootsies and Coconuts: Delray Beach-based shoe retailer Tootsies will merge with Kokonuts, a clothing and swimwear boutique that opened in the city in 2008, and move to the current location of Global Pursuit, a clothing store at 400 E. Atlantic Ave.

House of Perna: House of Perna, a colorful and maximalist brand with a focus on consciously made products, will move from the Arts Warehouse at 313 NE Third St. to the Shoppes at the Ray on NE Second Ave. It will be fashion designer Amanda Perna’s second downtown location — Perna is also co-owner of A Little Wyld Boutique, the colorfully curated children’s and women’s clothing line at 157 NE Second Ave.

Tern Studio: Tern Studio, formerly known as The Shops at the Seagate, which offered accessories and apparel, opens in Pineapple Grove at 200 NE Second Ave.
