Christopher T. Young becomes CFO at Weather Channel

Christopher T. Young, a former employee of Entravision Communications, has joined The Weather Channel as chief financial officer. He will also serve as executive vice president of the cable channel’s parent company, Allen Media Group.

Young will be based at The Weather Channel’s Atlanta campus and in Los Angeles, where Allen Media Group is headquartered. He will report to CEO Byron Allen and Christopher Malone, CFO and Executive VP of Allen Media Group.

“Chris brings extensive financial and operational experience from over three decades in the media industry. His extensive expertise and long-standing capital markets background are valuable assets,” said Allen, founder and chairman of Allen Media Group. “Chris adds great depth to our leadership team and will be critical to our company as we continue to grow rapidly and execute on a number of long-term strategic initiatives.”

Young spent the last 16 years as CFO of Spanish-language media company Entravision. Before that, he was CFO of outdoor advertising company Vista Media. He also held senior positions at the Bank of Montreal, the Bank of Toyko-Mitsubishi and Chase Manhattan Bank.

Allen Media Group has acquired many new companies over the past six years. The company’s assets include Allen Media Broadcasting, Weather Group, theGrio, HBCU GO, Sports.TV, JusticeCentral.TV and the free streaming app Local Now.
