Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson struggled again on Sunday. He completed 21 of 37 passes for 196 yards and a couple of touchdowns in his team’s loss to the New York Giants.

His numbers weren’t bad, with a passer rating of 89.5. However, he only completed 56.8 percent of his passes and didn’t show much improvement.

After the game, however, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski defended his signal-caller and took responsibility for his difficulties.

“Deshaun obviously gives it everything he’s got,” Stefanski said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “He can’t get sacked as often, he can’t get hit as often. That’s not good enough, and that’s on me and on us to fix that.”

Cleveland allowed eight sacks to the Giants, and even though New York has a good pass rush, that’s still unacceptable. The Browns also had numerous injuries to their offensive line during the game, which certainly made life even more difficult.

However, the backlash against Watson will not make things any easier.

Watson is now in his third year with the Browns and has yet to prove that he can be their franchise quarterback in the future.

For this reason, fans are understandably frustrated and will probably not give him much of a reprieve just because his offensive line wasn’t up to par.

Ironically, Cleveland’s offensive line was considered the team’s greatest strength at the start of the season.

The Browns will look to get back on track when they travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday.
