College Station police arrest professional boxer for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – College Station police arrested a Galveston County professional boxer on Thursday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a sexual assault complaint.

According to court documents, police responded to a report of a sexual assault at an urgent care center in College Station on Thursday morning. Police found the victim had torn clothing, no shoes, and had visible injuries to her face, head and body.

The survivor told police she met the assault suspect, who posed as a professional boxer, at a bar in the Northgate District late Wednesday night. She said she rejected the boxer’s advances, which made him angry.

Court documents detail that when the survivor fought back, the man began hitting her repeatedly, an attack that police say lasted 30 minutes to an hour.

The survivor eventually managed to escape, taking the suspect’s phone with her on the way, and continued walking until she reached an emergency room.

Police were able to positively identify the owner of the phone and gave her description as that of 30-year-old Evan Garcia of League. Police made contact with Garcia and found that he had missing skin on his knuckles and had foul-smelling sores on his neck and arms.

Garcia reportedly consented to a search of his vehicle, during which an investigator discovered the victim’s shoes and THC oil.

Evan Garcia was arrested and booked into the Brazos County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (as he is a professional boxer) and possession of a controlled substance.

He is being held on a total bail of $47,000.
