Colorado Football vs Nebraska: Game Updates, Live Scores

Deion Sanders and the Colorado football team are on the road for the first time this season.

The Buffaloes (1-0) want to beat Nebraska for the fourth time in a row in Lincoln, but the Cornhuskers are in full control in two quarters.

After Colorado’s defense forced Nebraska into a three-and-out early in the second half, Alejandro Mata kicked a 27-yard field goal to put the Buffs on the scoreboard.

Nebraska leads 28-3 in the third quarter with 10:38 minutes left.

Colorado’s starting safety Shilo Sanders left the game early in the first half and went to the locker room.

Deion Sanders said at halftime that Shilo would not return with what he believed to be a “broken forearm or something like that.”

Colorado kicker Jace Feely missed a 55-yard field goal as the first half clock expired. That’s how the first half looked for the Buffs.

It almost resulted in an interception by Colorado linebacker LaVonta Bentley, but instead it became an 18-yard touchdown pass from Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola to Rahmir Johnson after a deflected pass.

The Cornhuskers extended their big lead just before halftime.

Nebraska leads 28-0 with less than a minute left in the second quarter.

Colorado still struggled in the early going. Alejandro Mata’s 29-yard field goal was blocked after the Buffs’ best drive of the first half.

Nebraska will take over at its own 20-yard line.

With 3:33 minutes left in the second quarter, Nebraska leads 21-0.

After Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola made an incredible cross-body throw for a 36-yard gain to Jaylen Lloyd, Dante Dowdell threw the ball from one yard out on the next play, extending the Cornhuskers’ lead.

Nebraska is in full control.

With 6:44 minutes left in the second quarter, Nebraska leads 21-0.

Nebraska kicker Tristan Alvano missed a 32-yard field goal on the first play of the second quarter.

Colorado didn’t have much luck in the first quarter. The Buffs lost -2 yards on offense (mostly due to -25 sack yards) and Shedeur Sanders was able to convert his second interception of the season into a touchdown.

Nebraska, meanwhile, is averaging 7.1 yards per carry and is in a good position to score at the start of the second quarter.

After a Nebraska punt landed at the Buffs’ two-yard line, Shedeur Sanders threw an interception pass from his own end zone to Nebraska defensive back Tommi Hill, who returned it for a touchdown.

With 5:46 minutes left in the first quarter, Nebraska leads 14-0.

Colorado’s offense hasn’t started quite as well as last week. After a 3-and-out on their first possession, the Buffs were unable to capitalize on a 55-yard kickoff return by Jimmy Horn Jr.

After a failed conversion on fourth down, the ball goes back to Nebraska. Shedeur Sanders was sacked on two of Colorado’s first four plays of the game.

The Cornhuskers used their running game to take the lead for the first time. Nebraska managed 49 yards (including 39 rushing yards) in seven plays on its first drive after Colorado went 3-and-out.

Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens was on the field working out with Colorado’s receivers before the game. The 15-year NFL veteran ranks third in NFL history in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Representatives from at least seven NFL teams – Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders and Minnesota Vikings – are expected at Memorial Stadium to watch Colorado and Nebraska.

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter are both considered first-round NFL draft picks.

Nebraska leads the all-time series at 49-21-2, but Colorado has won three straight games, including last year’s 36-14 victory in Boulder. The Buffs haven’t beaten the Cornhuskers in Lincoln since 2018.

The atmosphere at Memorial Stadium will be lively on Saturday night, but Shedeur Sanders will be able to use his four years of college experience to compete against a team that features a true freshman quarterback (Dylan Raiola) making his second career start.
