Colt McCoy makes his broadcast debut Saturday night during NBC’s Colorado-Nebraska broadcast.
While there is a lot of talk about the game, so too is McCoy’s performance in the locker room.
McCoy recently retired from the NFL to start a new career, but things aren’t going well for the Longhorn legend. His debut as a commentator was widely panned by media and fans during Saturday night’s game:
NBC’s Colt McCoy could use some more experience at Colorado-Nebraska.

I don’t know which fight is more entertaining tonight – Colorado versus Nebraska or Colt McCoy versus Pronunciation Shedeur.

I love Colt McCoy, but he sounds completely drained in this show

I’m a huge Colt McCoy fan, but the guy only retired a month ago. Putting him in a high-profile primetime game for his first start wasn’t ideal. https://t.co/ORBgXwyAJz

Colt McCoy has the personality of dry paint. He’s awful. Why does he commentate on games for NBC?

Can we get Colt McCoy a coffee? The energy for this game is so low.

If you’re at the game and not watching the broadcast, Colt McCoy is the Colorado OL of color analysts

McCoy played quarterback at Texas from 2006 to 2009 and had one of the best careers of any college quarterback, passing for 13,253 yards, 112 touchdowns and 45 interceptions. He also ran for 1,571 yards and 20 touchdowns.
After completing his college career, he was selected 85th overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2010 NFL Draft. Although he never became a franchise quarterback, McCoy was on the NFL roster for 14 seasons, playing for the Browns, 49ers, Redskins, Giants and Cardinals.
McCoy was put on this roster because he was a high-IQ player who knew the game, and that should equip him for the role of commentator. It’s only his first game, so he could get better with time. But on Saturday night, fans in the locker room weren’t thrilled with him.
