Commanders’ Jayden Daniels scores against Bengals; Bills easily pass Jags

Quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Josh Allen both shone on Monday night as they led their teams to impressive victories to close out Week 3.

Daniels, the second overall pick in April’s draft, was a standout in the Washington Commanders’ thrilling 38-33 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, completing 21 of 23 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns.

His second touchdown was the play of the game and maybe even of the night.

The Commanders were leading 31-26 and having just converted a fourth down earlier in the drive, Daniels faced a 3rd-and-7 at the Bengals’ 27-yard line. As a pass rusher came at him, Daniels took a hit and threw a perfect pass to Terry McLaurin on the right sideline. McLaurin caught the ball in the end zone to score the game-winning point with just over two minutes left.

The surprising Commanders improved their record to 2-1 with the win.

The Bengals fell to 0-3 with the loss, a shocking start for a team many had considered an AFC contender. This is the second home loss Cincinnati has suffered this season as a clear favorite, following a Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots.

No team has ever won a Super Bowl after starting 0-3.

The Buffalo Bills, on the other hand, are an AFC contender that has done well at home.

The Bills crushed the Jaguars 47-10. Buffalo scored touchdowns on its first five possessions and took a 34-10 lead into halftime.

Allen dominated, throwing for 263 yards on 23 of 30 passes. He threw four touchdowns – all in the first half. He also threw for 247 yards in the first half, more than the Jacksonville Jaguars threw for the entire game (239 yards). Six different Bills scored touchdowns in the game.

On the other hand, it’s the eighth consecutive loss for quarterback Trevor Lawrence since last season. He was inefficient on Monday, throwing for just 178 yards on 38 attempts. He also threw an interception – Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin’s first of his career.

Like the Bengals, Jacksonville also fell to 0-3 with the loss.

The Bills remained undefeated at 3-0 and appear to be one of the best teams in the league.
