Commanders suspend staff member after undercover video showed him degrading players and fans

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Commanders announced Wednesday that they have suspended an employee pending the completion of an internal investigation after an undercover video posted on social media showed him making derogatory remarks about players and fans.

Vice President of Content Rael Enteen said in the video posted by O’Keefe Media Group that some players are stupid and homophobic, calling the fans “high school graduate alcoholics” and “mouth breathers.”

A spokesperson for the team said: “The language used in the video contradicts our values at the Commanders organization” and that further comment would be withheld at this time.

James O’Keefe, who founded the company last year, told The Associated Press by phone that the videos were recorded on two dates in Washington in June. O’Keefe said Enteen and the woman who filmed the interactions met on a dating app.

In the video, Enteen also criticized NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, calling Goodell a “$50 million puppet” and the league’s social justice efforts hypocrisy.

Enteen also said in the video that he believes Jones “hates gays and blacks.”

A message sent to a league spokesman seeking comment was not immediately returned.

The Cowboys did not respond to a request for comment.
