Community is invited to celebrate the opening of Struthers Dog Park

STRUTHERS, Ohio – The Marjorie Hartman Struthers Unleashed Dog Park is almost finished and will open to the public at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Located at Grimm Nebo Field at the end of East Haywood Street, the park features a 50-by-140-foot fenced area with separate areas for large and small dogs.

To celebrate the opening, Struthers Unleashed, the nonprofit behind the project, is hosting a community festival from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will include a grand opening at 5 p.m., followed by live music by Tyler Guerrieri, face painting, dog adoptions, food and refreshments by Hot Diggity Dog, and dog-themed giveaways.

“We are thrilled to open this expansive park to our community’s dogs and celebrate this addition to Nebo with our residents,” said Josh Miely, President of Struthers Unleashed.

The park is free to all and was funded entirely by the Marjorie Hartman Foundation, the Struthers Rotary Club and private donations. It was also made possible through the collaboration of local businesses including AH Restoration, Austintown Fence, Christ Lutheran Church (Struthers), Clever Marketing Agency, EndTime Grafix, JPC Construction, Municipal Signs, S&T Engraving, Turd Bandit and the Struthers High School construction classes.

“The City of Struthers, my office and my family are excited to add a dog park to our city, especially in the Nebo neighborhood,” said Mayor Cat Cercone-Miller. “A dog park was one of the top priorities identified during our citizen engagement for the comprehensive plan. This project is an example of the type of civic engagement we envisioned when we launched Discover Struthers. We encourage citizens to share their ideas for future projects through our online Discover Struthers platform.”
