Country icon goes on tour with original band despite stroke in 2013

Randy Travis will go on tour in 2025 as part of his “More Life” tour.

Travis has participated in the tour, which began in the summer, despite a stroke in 2013 that prevented the singer from performing. However, Travis will travel with singer James Dupré, who is performing with Travis’ original touring band.

Travis and his wife Mary will be on stage to interact with fans.

“The ‘More Life’ tour celebrates so much more than just a musical moment,” Travis said in a statement to Taste of Country. “It’s a gift for me to spend time with my fans and my band while James Dupré perfectly showcases the songs that best define my career.”

Earlier this year, Travis released a new AI-generated song titled “Where That Came From,” sparking new debate on the controversial topic of the ever-evolving and little-discussed role of artificial intelligence in music performance.

Producer Kyle Lehning and Warner Music pulled 42 tracks and removed the music, leaving only the vocals. Then they got a “replacement vocal,” DuPre.

The AI program takes Travis’ voice and overlays it with DuPre’s vocals.
