Create the perfect daily routine with the Echo Spot

Create the perfect daily routine with the Echo Spot

Meet Amazon’s newest member of the Alexa family: the brand new Echo Spot.

This compact and stylish device is a smart alarm clock with numerous useful features, a stylish, customizable display and a directional speaker that delivers lively sound.

The Echo Spot is an ideal addition to your nightstand and can help you create the perfect daily routine, from waking up in the morning to getting the perfect sleep at night. Here’s how.

Setting up your device

Setting up your Echo Spot for the first time is easy. All you need is a power outlet to plug it into, an internet connection, and the Alexa app on your smartphone.

Once you have connected your Echo Spot, use your smartphone camera to scan the QR code shown on the display and follow the simple Instructions on how to connect.

You can customize the display to suit your space and taste by scrolling down to the Clock and Design section in the device settings. Here you can choose from six stylish clock faces, decide whether you want to use the 24-hour or 12-hour clock, and select an accent color for the display.

Start your day right

You can set your morning alarm with your Echo Spot either by asking Alexa directly or using the Alexa app. Depending on your needs, you can choose a one-time alarm, ask Alexa to repeat it daily, or set it to wake you up only on weekdays.

If you wake up and realize you need a few more minutes of sleep, you can easily snooze your alarm by tapping the top of the Echo Spot with more than one finger. The alarm will snooze for nine minutes by default. Alternatively, you can say, “Alexa, snooze for X minutes.”

You can even create your own personalized wake-up routine that goes off when you turn off your alarm. For example, you can program Alexa to say or do something when the alarm stops, like turn on a light, tell you the weather, or even give you a compliment!

Preparations for the day

To help you stay on top of things throughout the day, you can ask Alexa to set reminders for different tasks or events.

You can set a reminder for any time of day that your Echo Spot will announce at the set time. For example, you may want to be reminded when you need to leave the house to go to the gym or when you need to start preparing for an important meeting. You can also ask, “Alexa, what reminders have I set for today?” to hear a list of reminders you’ve previously set. These will also appear on the display.

If you have other smart devices at home, the all-new Echo Spot lets you connect to them and make your life easier.

Once you have added all your smart devices to the Devices tab in the Alexa app, you can ask Alexa to Perform tasks like turning on the lights, adjusting the thermostat, boiling the kettle, and more.

The Routines feature, which you can set up in the Routines section of the Alexa app, lets you program Alexa to trigger other smart devices at specific times or after specific actions, like adjusting your thermostat when you wake up or dimming your lights when you say it’s time to watch a movie.

Run errands

The Echo Spot is very handy for keeping track of your errands.

Need to do some shopping quickly? Just ask “Alexa, what’s on my shopping list?” and you’ll hear and see a list of all the items you need to buy.

To create this list at any time, you can ask Alexa to add items or open the Alexa app where you can choose from a selection of frequently added items or enter your own.

Before going to bed

There’s nothing better than going to bed after a busy day. With the help of your Echo Spot, you can create relaxing evenings that help you drift off to a peaceful sleep.

Not only can you ask Alexa to dim the lights and set your alarm, but you can also create a soothing nighttime routine.

For example, you can create a routine that triggers every night before bed that tells Alexa to play soothing music, an Audible book, or your favorite podcast for a set amount of time, and then automatically stops when you fall asleep.

Thanks to Alexa’s accessibility features, you can even have your Echo Spot read the next chapter of your current reading on your Kindle right where you left off.
