Cristiano Ronaldo has set unparalleled records throughout his long and illustrious career, but as his playing days draw to a close, he hopes to nurture the next generation of goalscoring superstars.

The Portuguese international hopes that his son will be one of the next star players, with 14-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. currently playing for Al Nassr’s youth team.

But while his father continues to push his own incredible career forward, he has watched the older Ronaldo shine for his club in the Saudi Pro League.

After failing to score in his last league match and then missing the opening match of the AFC Champions League due to illness, Ronaldo Sr. got back on the scoresheet for Al Nassr on Friday 20 September when he converted a penalty to score the game’s first goal against Al Ettifaq.

The strike was Ronaldo’s 902nd career goal after he was celebrated for reaching the 900-goal mark just weeks earlier. It also gave him eight goals in seven games this season, a year after he set a Saudi Pro League single-season record of 35 goals in the 2023/24 season.

While celebrating his last goal, Ronaldo found his son in the crowd and pointed his finger at his protégé. With Ronaldo Jr. scored two goals for Al Nassr’s youth team in the early afternoon, his ‘three’ gave their combined goals for the day.

Like father, like son for Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.

And to keep the celebration in the family, Ronaldo’s girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez posted a video clip on her Instagram story immediately after the goal, showing her two daughters dancing while a replay of the penalty kick plays in the background.
